The history of development of contraception shows, that the oral contraceptive hormonal preparations created within last 4 decades, have allowed to refuse the majority of other means and methods of the prevention of pregnancy. These preparations have everywhere received a wide circulation. Today all over the world oral contraceptive preparations accept more than 150 million women. With creation of hormonal contraceptive preparations gynecologists have received the contraceptive means providing 100 %-s' prevention of pregnancy in the order. Till 90th years in Russia artificial stay of pregnancy was the basic means the basic method of contraception. It occurred because of low level of awareness on other methods of contraception and because in shops it was practically impossible to get the necessary contraceptive. With occurrence in the Russian market of leading manufacturers of contraceptive means, the situation has changed. With 1991 for 1997 the quantity of abortions has decreased on 34,2 % while use of various methods of contraception constantly increases. According to leading experts in the field of medicine, modern contraception can be real alternative to abortions. And for the decision of a problem of abortions not less than 70 % of women should use various contraceptives.
